Working very well and I have had them for about two weeks. They did come slightly dull but were still sharper than my old knives and as soon as I used the sharpening tool they were perfect. Great array of knives and the handles are very comfortable. Most sets I looked at had mostly steak knives. Organizes them well also. Can’t find a better set for the price!curate opinion on the longevity, but so far, they’re holding up just fine. Haven’t noticed any dulling yet. Very attractive knife set. Not terribly expensive, either.

After our wedding shower I had received $200 knives. We already had steak knives so I didn’t want the whole block. I returned them and then later ended up purchasing these. They are great knives and they look great. Lets be honest I am not a chef I don’t need top of the line. I need a good sturdy set of knives to use at home. They cut well. They are easy to use. I hand wash them because I want to ensure that they last for year! No staining or spotting noticed to date.

We purchased this set to replace our old set of knives and we are very pleased with these. We also bought a sharpener at the same time and use it frequently to keep these sharp. However, the knives were all sharp right out of the box. The paring knife broke after only three months of use but was quickly replaced by Amazon with excellent customer service.

I was worried buying Ginsu knives as I know there are some pretty cheap knock-offs out there, but these are well-made, substantial knives. If I ever need kitchen knives again, I would go with them again unless I was prepared to spend significantly more money.

These knives live up to the other reviews – I’m not crazy about the paring knife, but I really like the santoku knife. The set is just the
right size for the everyday cook. The scissors are a little cheap so I replaced them with my Oxo scissors which fit perfectly into the slot.

After seeing the cost of most knife sets, I was about to give up buying one – then I saw this, and thought – oh well, give it a try. We’re very glad we did! The knives are sharp, the block is attractive and convenient, and it doesn’t have a ‘thousand’ knives to get in the way. We eat chicken and veggies – don’t need all those steak knives that many of the sets have! Think this is a great value, very convenient, and looks great in the kitchen!

Hello my fellow Amazonians!
I recently purchased this set for everyday kitchen use and cooking. I am an amature when it comes to cooking, but I do love to cook and try new things in the kitchen. My goal was to have a quality knife set. I settled on these for two main reasons: 1) the reputation of J.A. Henckels 2) they were forged. Granted they are still made in China, but they are a nice entry level into the forged knives for the price. As a matter of fact you can’t pass up the price. I have seen the same knife set on other sites for an additional $150 plus.

I bought this set about 1 month ago and like it very much. Sharp, well balanced and good looking knives. No rust problems, but I wash and dry them right away and don’t leave them laying around on the counter or in the sink – they are too sharp for that anyways. The curved handles are comfortable and feel good in my hands. The wood block is handsome and the sharpening steel works like a charm. The scissors are also sharp and good quality. I use the knifes every day and can recommend them to you. For the price, they are a great value.
Also the J.A.Henckels customer service is very good. One of the knifes was the wrong size and they promptly sent me the right one.

These knives are well crafted and very sharp, including the scissors (oops). The only thing I don’t really like about the knives is the weight. I would really prefer a heavier set of knives, particularly the larger knives. Other than that, nice set of knives and very sharp.

The first set I received has a wooden box broken, so I returned it. Amazon shipped a new set to me the next day, super fast, and I appreciated it. The new set is perfect. The knifes, kitchen shear and wooden box are well-made quality. I have no problem with their sharpness or their weight. I normally use the santoku and 8-inch chef knife. The kitchen shears is also very useful and sharp. It’s easy to clean. I clean it right away after use. Highly recommended.

I placed the order for this item on December 14, 2011 for a christmas present. It was shipped out within 24 hours of me ordering it. I recieved it in a weeks time.

I ordered another Ginsu Product at the same time as this product but the other product was to be shipped from a different company. 5 Days after the order was placed the item still had not shipped and to this day I have never recieved the item and the company that handled the item took 13 days to respond to my email and still did not refund my money.

Order from Amazon and no one else.

While the Wusthof Classic 5-Piece Studio Knife Set is not high end cutlery by any means, it is a reasonably well made set with good quality steel that will hold an edge. I own several Wusthof kinfs other than this set and I’m not sure they are of equal quality. The block is a little on the “rough” side fit and finish wise and the balance of the knifes is a little off. Still, the selection of knifes is good for the beginner and the blades do look to be Wusthof steel. I have to disagree with some reviewers about the sheers. A good set of kitchen sheers is a must for me. Boning poultry, stemming large greens and opening packages are just a few of the things they are needed for. While this set isn’t going to make you an Iron Chef, it’s a big step up from Ginsu.

This is a wonderful set of knives for those starting a new kitchen, upgrading their kitchen or buying for a second kitchen (boat, RV, cottage). Featuring high quality full-tang knives from their Classic line, this set contains a 6″ chef’s knife, a 4.5″ utility knife, a 3.5″ paring knife, a pair of kitchen shears and a compact wood knife block.

Until now, most starter sets were either 2 or 3 piece sets of an 8″ chef’s knife plus a 3.5″ paring knife or a large block of 12 assorted knives. This set happily sits in the middle ground where it provides what is used the most often in a kitchen: prep knives, a chef’s knife and a good pair of kitchen shears all compactly stored in a slim block.
My personal favorite brand — By K. Draper
I’ve owned Classic Wusthof knives for thirty years and I will continue to use them forever. I had the chance to try out this “Studio Set” of Wusthof knives in the Classic line, as well as the same size set in the “Gourmet” line. The latter is a budget Wusthof–stamped, rather than forged like these knives. While they are very good–and particularly sharp–I still recommend buying the set of Classic knives, currently $50.00 more than the Gourmet, if you you can afford it. They have a really nice heft to them and if you treat them well, they should last forever.

The big knife in this set is a six inch Chef Knife, which many people will find quite handy, but which isn’t really big enough to do all that a chef knife should do. I am an average sized woman, and my home set includes an eight inch chef knife, which I use almost every day. This is the right size for most people. I do like using this smaller chef’s knife, it is quick and nimble, but it would not allow me to chop through a butternut squash or a head of cabbage. If you buy this set, perhaps you could supplement it later with a cleaver or a Santuko knife to do these jobs.

I bought these knives after looking at Costco, Sam’s club, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and a number of online venues. I finally ordered these despite the lack of reviews. I was a little disappointed to see that my knives were on back order. It stated that they were going to be shipped in two months. I was pleasantly surprised when they showed up three weeks later. This is the best price I could find for the the amount of knives you get, especially for the high quality of Henckels. I have had the knives for about two months, they are great! They feel great in your had and cut extremely well. I absolutely love them! I would highly recommend this set to anyone. As stated earlier, if you are after a high quality knife set this was the best bang for your buck I could find. All of the knives are forged, even the steak knives, which is something that may differ between other Henckel block sets.

Be forewarned these are sharp. I am a 64yr old widower who enjoys cooking. I had my last set of knives for 15yrs, time to replace. I was used to the old ones and didn’t realize how dull they were. These knives are great! Although my wife has bought what she has thought were good knives over the years, they were not nearly as good as these. They are sharp, well-balanced, and have good, grippable handles. And did I mention that they are sharp? Even the scissor-type cutters work very well.

This knife set is out of this world! I gave them as a gift for Mother’s Day. On the knives it even has the name of the knife. I always used to find myself using knives and was probably using them for the wrong thing. I even had an excuse to get to use them as I cooked dinner for Mother’s Day. I highly recommend these knives. I will also be purchasing a set for myself. This is a must have!

Bought this for my mother for Christmas.

The knife set is excellent. The handles are a nice thick rubber material which makes gripping and controlling them easier for elderly people with bad arthritis.

The wooden knife holder is a little cheap, but nothing that I can’t overlook. I would recommend this knife set.

Anyhow, these knives make short, EASY work of anything. I love the paring knife…cloves of garlic submit from a mile away, slicing small things is like cutting through a cloud.

The chef’s knife is fantastic. I was a little miffed when I read that the 4-star set had the Santoku, but I’m not terrribly worried. For chopping “billowy” stuff like cilantro bunches, etc., the pronounced “rocking” action of the chef’s knife is clearly preferable to me.

I bought the 4-Star set, and instantly returned it and got the Pro-S instead. I was dissapointed with the handles of the 4-Star, the plastic (IMHO) diminished the aesthetics and the “feel” of the knives. I learned that the 4-Star’s “full rat tail tang” is very different than a true “full tang” found in the Pro-S. The rat tail tang reduced the weight and the sense of handling that I eventually ended up getting from the Pro-S series handle style (full tang, riveted, and heavier). I like seeing the tang!

I’m no knife expert, but I’ve never regretted purchasing this set: they’re beautiful and they really do the job! To be able to easily slice through raw meat, vegetables, tough skinned tomatoes – well, it’s a pleasure to work with these knives! I can’t recommend them highly enough!

We’ve had this set for over ten years now and I feel secure in recommending it to others. These are truly good quality knives and, though I admit I use the utility knife far more than any others, if I ever needed another knife I would definitely get a Henckels Twin Pro S and not mess around with cheaper quality.

I was reluctant to spend the money for the set of knives but after several uses I was glad I did. This set has less knives than the one I had but I haven’t missed the other couple of knives.
